Mycena sanguinolenta (Alb. & Schw. ex Fr.) Kummer Rotmilchender Helmling Mycène sanguinolent Bleeding Bonnet. Cap 1–2cm across, conical to bell-shaped, brownish red with darker umbo, striate. Stem 45–80 x 1–2mm, concolorous with cap, exuding blood-red latex when broken. Flesh very thin, reddish. Taste mild, smell not distinctive. Gills adnate, whitish or tinged flesh-colour with reddish-brown edge. Cheilo- and pleurocystidia thin-walled, fusoid with sharply pointed apex and brownish contents. Spore print white. Spores pip-shaped, amyloid 9–10 x 4–5um. Habitat amongst grass in lawns, heaths and woodlands. Season summer. Common. Edible but not worthwhile -avoid. Distribution, America and Europe. |
